Pérolas (Pearls)

A series of objects and actions involving pearls.

First came the “Pérola Passivo-Agressiva”. In collaboration with Dylan Wahl. A pearl, an oyster shell and fishing line. Exhibited at the Kresge Art Center, Michigan, from August 26 to September 13, 2013.

Suspended by a fine line, a pearl hovers inches above its shell. Almost where it is supposed to be. But not quite.

“Pérola no céu” (Pearl in the sky), with Kethlen Kohl and Marcos Alexandre, is the last in the series. A performance presented during the occupation of an abandoned cultural complex in Joinville, Brazil, in 2014. Three pearls, glued to a fine polymer thread and tied to translucent helium balloons, were released onto the sky.
