Early sound works, sound interventions, 2006-2009
From 2006 to 2011 I experimented with sound interventions, which I executed in a few different venues. I then worked with two types of sound: laugh tracks, the type heard on comedy sitcoms, and crowd murmur, the type heard on food courts and medium to large gatherings.
I started with laugh tracks. Waves of laughter every 15 seconds. They played on concealed speakers in gallery spaces in Brazil and the USA. I also played with the continuous murmur of a crowd, from concealed speakers in eerie places such as the art museum.
