A queer, Amazonian comedy-horror.
The film follows two missionaries traveling through the forest in search of the last uncontacted tribe, in the mythical lost city of Ragatanga. Along the way, they attempt to produce what they believe will be the “last documentary.” As they move deeper into the jungle, they are confronted with supernatural forces and face a progressive collapse of faith, authorship, and perception. The film operates between fiction and documentary, staging the camera itself as part of the narrative.

"Quirky, stylish and dangerous, director Zé Kielwagen created a controversial film that marries religion and absurdness, with dreamy sensuosity that is so at ease with its own mischief, Tongues of Fire encourages us to not turn away from our strangeness, but instead, lean into it to find our true selves." - Los Angeles Underground Film Forum
